SUGAR STUDIO

SAN FRANCISCO

How do I prepare for Sugaring?

The more hydrated your skin is, the better your results will be. Gently exfoliate with a loofah or mitt and moisturize as often as you remember. The key word here is gently. Go easy on your skin. Shea butter is an ideal choice for keeping your skin hydrated (this is advice for pre and post care).

Do not come in with a raised body temperature. We can't stress this enough. Sugar is water soluble. If your body is too warm, the sugar will slide right over your hairs instead of gripping onto them. That means no workouts, sunbathing, or ultra-hot showers before your appointment. Rushing across town can stress you out and make you sweat. Stay calm, give yourself time, relax.

Do not plan on hair removal from the chin up if you have received or plan to receive a facial within 7 days. Prescribed acne or anti-aging creams can also be problematic so shoot us an email first with details. We'll work with you to figure out an ideal appointment date.

Hair needs to be at least 1/4 inch long (7-10 days growth). Don't panic if it's longer. We'll take care of that in the treatment room and educate you for future appointments.

Be nice to yourself. Ladies, it's no secret that you are more sensitive closer to your cycle. If it's not avoidable, come in anyway - it's not a big deal.

It doesn't hurt to pop a few ibuprofen, (though not aspirin, as it thins the blood) even if you’re not close to your cycle.
